Grant Thornton Singapore appoints new territory Practice Leader

Singapore 1 July 2020 – Leading business and financial services firm Grant Thornton Singapore is delighted to announce the appointment of David Sandison, the current Head of Tax, as its new Practice Leader. The move follows the retirement of Jeff Vibert, who has led the firm since 2018 and the audit practice since the firm’s establishment in 2015. Jeff will be moving back to his native Australia to enjoy his retirement.

David commented, “Jeff’s wise counsel, leadership and friendly guidance will be sadly missed by all in the firm, and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for the outstanding legacy and culture he has helped create, and the steady growth he has helped sustain.”

After leaving one of Singapore’s Big 4 accounting practices in 2014, David subsequently ran his own very successful international boutique tax practice. He then joined Grant Thornton in July 2019, when he became head of the firm’s tax practice.

What excites him about GT Singapore is the challenge of working with an expanding, talented and multicultural team of business experts that is plugged into an international network and bringing that critical experience to the firm’s expanding client base.

“When you look at our configuration”, he said, “this is a very internationally focused firm. It carries no historical baggage. We were created from scratch in 2015, and have come a remarkably long way since, thanks in large measure to Jeff’s leadership.”

David went on to say, “My 35-year mainstream career in the UK, Australia and Singapore obviously taught me a lot. However, I also learned in my own practice about the middle-market, including the balance that needs to be struck between the pragmatic solutions demanded by entrepreneurs, and the technical knowledge and excellence that must form the bedrock of all we produce. My intention is to combine all that experience to the benefit of Grant Thornton Singapore and its clients”.

David will remain as Head of Tax for the firm.
