Singapore Budget 2019: Our observations and analysis

Finance Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat, delivered the 2019 Singapore Budget earlier today. In the bicentennial year this was a giveaway budget, sharing the 2018 surplus, with no significant tax changes.

We’ve produced a handy summary of this year’s budget to help you understand the key initiatives that have been announced affecting both businesses and individuals.

We had our Budget breakfast seminar on the morning after the budget announcement, as we discussed the outcomes and tax changes announced in this year’s budget. Our experts shared their insights and understandings of the budget announcement and other tax changes being rolled out in 2019.

We highlighted the key changes and discuss:

  • the implications for you,
  • how the new tax rules will affect your business, and
  • how best you can leverage the opportunities available.

We were delighted to have Suan Teck Kin, Head of Research at UOB, to share his thoughts on the budget implications for the Singapore economy and for Singapore’s position in the global economy.
