Following the enactment of legislation on 1 January 2021 to tackle Missing Trader Fraud (MTF), the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) published its e-Tax Guide “GST: Guide on Due Diligence Checks to Avoid Being Involved in Missing Trader Fraud” in early February.
The e-Tax guide introduces the Knowledge Principle whereby all businesses must do their part to protect against the risk of losing its input tax claims.

Soo How is the Executive Director of Koh SH & Associates Pte Ltd. He is an Accredited Tax Advisor and an active member of the GST Committee of the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) that engages the IRAS on policy and technical matters on behalf of the members. He is also passionate about teaching and currently teaches GST at the Tax Academy of Singapore and the Singapore University of Social Studies (SUSS).
Jeremy O’Neill
Jeremy heads up the Goods and Services tax (GST) service line in Grant Thornton Singapore. He specialises in indirect tax matters and also has experience in UK and UAE.
