The Restructuring and Insolvency team 

Our restructuring and insolvency team works closely with industry professionals, companies and their stakeholders to identify and resolve issues affecting profitability, protect enterprise value and facilitate a full recovery where possible. 

The team is made up of young and friendly professionals bringing about an easy-going culture. While projects are often performed in a pressurised environment, the team works collaboratively and supportively across all levels to be able to deliver their best. The leaders in the team are hands-on, guiding and teaching junior members to navigate situations and stakeholders that may be difficult or tricky. Each individual has the space to grow in their own way and to discover what is best for them. 

Responsibilities

  • Leading the execution and delivery of day to day issues on restructuring and insolvency engagements
  • Building and sustaining strong relationships with stakeholders, creditors and other advisors
  • Strong transaction execution capabilities
  • Review and issue draft correspondence, reports, and presentations  
  • Reconstructing and review of (complex) accounting records from incomplete information
  • Experience in reviewing and overseeing investigation work for the benefit of recovering assets for the insolvent estate and company analysis, including financial modelling where necessary
  • Leading in client meetings and strategy discussions with directors and partners and making recommendations thereon
  • For insolvency matters, attending to statutory and compliance matters
  • Leading in business development and marketing activities
  • Coaching and building capabilities of team members 

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or other relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years previous experience in a restructuring and insolvency team
  • Experience in working with the Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firms will have an added advantage.
  • Ability to write concise and well-structured reports and have good command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience in supervising the work of associates to managers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence while interacting with others;
  • A team player who has a point of view and who can contribute to the success of the team and the business as a whole.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen;
  • Experience in managing teams and leading engagement
  • Possess a good understanding of business drivers and their fundamentals  
  • Experience in entirely leading and managing multiple projects and engagements Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and financial modelling an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
