Singapore Practice Leader & Head of Tax
David joined the firm in July 2019 to head up the Tax practice, after a 35 year career in international tax with a big four accounting firm in London, Melbourne and Singapore (as a well as a five-year “post retirement” spell running his own tax practice). He leverages off that unique international experience to help his Multinational clients (big and small) structure and manage their cross-border business operations, not only from a tax perspective, but also from a commercial and practical perspective, having dealt with, in his time, clients in almost every industry and situation imaginable.
One of his principle roles as tax practice leader, is to ensure that client solutions are comprehensively and coherently delivered by a well-trained, highly competent professional team.
On the external front, David was for many years a member of Taxation and Levies Committee for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Singapore, and latterly performed the same role for the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals. He wrote the Singapore volume of CCH’s Tax Planning and Compliance in Asia, and authored the chapters on Hedge Funds and Private Equity Firms, and on Group relief in The Law and Practice of Singapore Income Tax. He has appeared on numerous occasions on TV and radio, written frequent articles for newspapers and technical journals, and made countless public presentations.
